New DOOM

Borrowed a copy of the Doom (formerly MF Doom) album sampler this week. The above track is my favourite what with the strings being incredible and his singing at the end.

Doom is definitely one of the most slept on rappers around. Though I think he likes it that way- keeping out of the spotlight with his mask on. His bizarre couplets are frequently FAR out there, he doesn't do choruses and his production is deliberately lo-fi.

Madvillainy (his album with Madlib) and DangerDoom (his album with Dangermouse) are both alt-rap classics. Born Like This is his third solo album and features production from Dilla, Jake One and Doom himself. Ghostface and Raekwon guest and its out March 23.

This Clash Mag interview is kinda interesting and this Observer Music Monthly review sums the man up.

  1. Oh dude, how could you! You can only say he's slept on if you've been under a rock or don't actually like rap that much. Gonna go cry into my pillow to Madvillainy.
